Privacy policy

Pocket Sudoku does not require an account and never asks you for personal information. We run no server of our own, so nothing you do in the app is sent to us. The only data that leaves your phone goes to Google's services described below, and only for the features that need them.

What stays on your device

All of it is stored in the app's private storage. If Android backup is turned on, Android may include it in your phone's backup to your Google account, so it comes back after a reinstall or on a new phone. We never receive it.

Google Play Games (optional)

Signing in to Google Play Games is optional; the app works fully without it. When you do sign in:

This data is held by Google under the Google Privacy Policy; we cannot read your saved game. You can delete it, or your whole Play Games profile, in the Google Play Games settings.

Advertising

The free version shows ads through Google AdMob. To serve them, Google may collect information such as your advertising ID, IP address, and general device and app information. This is handled by Google under its own policies, not by us — see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Where the law requires it, the app first asks for your consent with Google's consent form, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings → Ad privacy options. You can remove ads entirely with a one-time in-app purchase.

Purchases

Removing ads and the board theme packs are one-time purchases processed by Google Play Billing. Payment details are handled entirely by Google Play — the app never sees or stores your card or billing information. The app asks Google Play which purchases you own, so they come back after a reinstall.

Sharing puzzles

A shared puzzle, as a QR code or a link, contains only the puzzle's difficulty and starting numbers — nothing about you. Links point to this website, which is hosted by GitHub Pages; like any web host, GitHub may log a visitor's IP address, as described in the GitHub Privacy Statement. If the person you share with installs the app from the link, Google Play passes the puzzle to the app on its first launch (Google Play's install referrer) so it can open it straight away.

Camera and QR codes

Scanning a QR code uses the Google Code Scanner built into Google Play services, so the app itself does not request camera permission and never receives, stores, or uploads any image.

Notifications

The optional daily reminder is scheduled and shown entirely on your device. Nothing is sent over the network to deliver it.

Ratings

The app may ask you to rate it using Google Play's in-app review. Anything you submit goes to Google Play as a normal review.

Analytics

The app contains no analytics or tracking SDKs of its own, and we collect no usage statistics of any kind. Google Play services, which runs Play Games, may collect diagnostic information under Google's own policy.

Children

Pocket Sudoku is a general-audience puzzle game and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page.
